Research rarely examines large-scale disinformation campaign conditions. Many studies present misinformation in plain text without a delay in measuring results. Future research should use ecologically valid methods to assess misinformation across platforms, formats, and time periods.

The framework to evaluate misinformation interventions is a hot topic. Future studies should include truth and deception and discernment. Policymakers must consider unintended consequences if interventions to reduce misinformation undermine trust in real news (Kalmoe et al., 2022). Thus, fighting misinformation requires technological advances, policy changes, and targeted research.
